You know, I did post it to Linux, and based upon the existing content there, some of these guys could use a good fucking project.
It is DD-WRT compliant, so even if you wanted to nuke their OS, you should be able to put a fresh install of that on the router.
Now, the fact that you are tempted to remove this, shows that you are either : a) sucking AOU's cock b) a different breed of faggot c) getting a shitload of spam, and getting really fucking tired of the shit.
I truly hope it is c.
The post was meant more in the interest of controlling your own modem / router. I mean, I really do not think at this time the site needs a DD-WRT sub. You barely have 3 posts in /Linux, seriously.
I handle spam site-wide. I was giving you and the userbase the courtesy of a heads-up that this could have been construed as spam. Relax Ajax! It's all good!
As for sucking AOU's cock, your mom told me to tell you that it's your turn on it.
I get ya, I appreciate all the hard work you and @system are doing, it is a thankless job. I figured I would to try my worst, and give you a bit of humor about it.
I see you guys are using cloudflare, which tbh, I don't know much about.
However, it's basically the same as the fact that you are behind a "load-balancer / proxy", so you may want to begin fingerprinting the offenders, obviously you first start with the ip's, as I really have no idea of the attacks that you are suffering, but generally when you are dealing with this sort of problem, that is a first step.
Hope this helps, but at least you are getting the IP, and yes, and you can black-hole it for increasing levels of severity, or use an open-source application to do that for you.
I get it, they can change their Ip's, or potentially you are affecting other users using that same NAT, but you just do the timeout real low to begin with, if it is that type of attack.
The same theory if you are using Nginx, however, if you go the Apache route, they are much better modules that you can use in conjunction with this, as you get more granular to alleviate your pain.
Unfortunately, smaller companies that are trying to get off their feet may have to use the easiest way to get their product off the ground and distributed in the fastest and most effective way.
BTW, I have no vested interest in this company, just thought it was interesting due to the DD-WRT aspect, and the fact that it is beefy enough to run your own / "appliance" that you would want to attach to your network. i.e NAS / print / OwnCloud, etc..
