User points are gay. They encourage bad behavior in several ways. There is the brigades up and down of course. There is also the more insidious nature of gamifying things. Gamification is a route of addiction. How many come here when they should be doing something else? No one will admit it but you like that dopamine hit when your counter creeps or better jumps up or down.

So. How would the page work? It's easy. You still vote in order to drive things up and down the page. You just don't collect points to the user acct.

Acct restrictions. There are other ways this can be handled. I can think of a couple but I wanted to keep this kinda short and its already growing. There are other ways to handle 'reputation and trust' w/in a web community though.
