For anyone trying to raise child soldiers, you don't have them shoot a gun that scares them because you've now made negative progress on trigger response.

Just give them a bb gun to shoot, and then a 22. You want them to develop balls? You can do that in other ways that doesn't compromise the development of good shooting instinct.

Both have plenty of nukes, whichever side starts losing will deploy them, and then:

1. They wipe each other out

2. To the victor goes the radioactive spoils.

Either way, one side gets a massive population culling, and the other side gets a major technological setback. Sounds good to me.
