There is nothing wrong with this, in fact it is deep culture. It would be a problem if the imagery was shown to be something other than horrible.

From one of the stories used to try to keep us kids in line. If you (whatever) the child eater will get you. It didn't work but the one about the witch in the candy house baking greedy children, well I still don't like eating candy in the woods.
