We spent part of the 4th in a forest by a lake and heard these noises in the distance, ringing loudly through the trees at one point. We had no idea what was making the sounds and were glad we heard them only when we were already heading back to the car.

It took me a while of searching through 'strange sounds in the woods' videos to figure out what they were. Now we feel silly (now that we know what they were) but I bet if you never heard this before you'd be weirded out too!
