Do more cardio and stop eating for gains, eat for maintenance. Take a break, rinse and repeat.

I, like some people, don't like using the "bulk & cut" terminology, I feel it only applies to the top-end juiced up bodybuilders. If you're a skinny guy, a proper maintenance diet probably feels like overeating anyway.

I saw your thread the other day but didn't answer because I don't really know. I have a small amt of belly but it isn't a priority for me so I never looked into it.

I have no idea if this video has tour answer. It is food for thought though. https://youtu.be/MY6nKL59L1o

Do what Arnold did: run. In the sand if you can.

As others have said, cut weight is the only way to get them to show

Having abs that show is partially genetic and partially having around 6-8% bodyfat

Running/jogging, especially on an uneven trail where your core is making balance adjustments a lot.

Abs are made in the kitchen, eat less sugar and oil. Low fat.

You can't target fat loss areas, but you can lose fat, and eventually your body will burn those fatty areas, just perhaps not in the order you want to lose it in. Some people lose it in their face first, then thighs, then back fat, then stomach last. Other people lose it in their stomach first. Your body decides. So if you want to lose fat in X area you just have to lose fat until your body
decides to take it away from X area.

The human body typically uses its energy from daily intake.

To get rid of fat, however, you'll want to Train your body to burn stored fat for energy, instead.

This is called ketosis.

To get your body into ketosis look up intermittent fasting. This is the best way to go into ketosis. Intermittent fasting has dozens of other advantages to your health too but I won't go over them.

Basically with intermittent fasting you slowly work up to a narrower and narrower feeding window. One common one is eating only between hours of 1pm-7pm (6 hours) Some people even work toward a single (giant) meal every day, for more dramatic results.

So what you do is go online to find a calorie calculator tool to find out your daily calorie intake is to keep your current weight.

Then find out what your calorie intake would be at your goal weight.

Now you have an idea of whst you need to eat within your 6(?) hour window.

Don't try to drop more than 30% of your daily calorie intake.

You can eat whatever you want but if you want gains fast eat paleo or keto diets that consist of eggs, vegetables, nuts, avocado, chicken, tuna, seeds, drink lots of water. Entirely avoid processed foods, milk/cheese, gluten, carbs, processed sugar. Eat fresh foods instead.

Especially don't eat anything with added sugar.

You will find if you stock your fridge correctly, that its even kind of hard to eat too many calories within a certain window. In fact, you will accidentally not eat enough calories a lot until you get the hang of it. On those days be prepared to be short tempered, irritable, forgetful, stupider. Just notice it and don't let it screw up your life/family/relatiobahips/job. Or, better yet, eat enough calories so you don't get this way.

If you are lifting weights/training there are lots of advice videos of how to intermittent fast while working out.

Take a before picture with your shirt off. Take all your measurements. Chest, gut, waist, biceps. Even if you go a 3 days without losing pounds, it will be noticed in your muscle gains and waist size. Take an after picture every month and record monthly size check-ins because it will motivate you. If you don't check in you will forget why you're doing it. Weigh yourself every morning. Don't use a string to measure. Strings stretch and are deceptive.

Treat shit food like a drug addiction and take it that serious. First step is admitting you have an addiction. Fuck being a slave to shitty food. To get it out of the house throw it all away from your pantry and freezer, and then stop buying it.

Here's the hardest part of all this: finding a partner who will do it with you. If you live in the same house with somebody and they don't buy in, then you will be back on heroin by Friday and back to eating something shitty at 9.30pm, because a bag of heroin will have found its way back into the house.

I'm down 25 lbs in 2mos and 55 in 6mos. It only works when everyone in household is vested. To garner interest show them before and after photos from the web. Reddit/r/intermittentfasting and Jenna Jameson before/after photos are great selling points.

Good advice

Treat shit food like a drug addiction and take it that serious. First step is admitting you have an addiction. Fuck being a slave to shitty food. To get it out of the house throw it all away from your pantry and freezer, and then stop buying it.

I personally found this didn't work for me. Whenever I went cold turkey I'd immediately end up in that "short tempered, irritable, forgetful, stupider" state and after a few days I'd get demoralised and end up back on the snacks.

What did work for me was picking one thing per week to cut out. For example, my first step was limiting myself to one sweet thing per day without worrying about the size. Then gradually cutting down the size, then every second day, then every second day, then a weekly desert day etc. After a few months of gradual improvements to my diet I was where I wanted to be. This may not be necessary for everyone but personally I've found it easier and more effective to build long term habits this way.

True. great point that I forgot to touch on.

by analogy, People who try to quit antidepressant meds cold turkey become manic and suicidal. Waning off is a million times more effective on a lot of things

I get demoraliized by the state of the world and go drink after work until it's time for bed...

It's a myth that you can "target belly fat".
When you body needs to pull energy from fat cells it pulls equally from all areas. You need to burn more energy than intake.

Thanks for your question, Pim. It's very hard losing gut-blubber especially if one is old, like you are. It comes down to the basic rules of good diet (starch) and exercise. But eating junk will put on kilos faster than exercise will take it off. Oh and take up cycling.

PS please don't swear as Tradwives copy the example of the menfolk.
