Its not just Paris. I live in a midsized city (50-100k pop). The protests here are getting big. Probably 10% of population active in streets. I've never seen this level of participation for any protest. I was surprised to see a protest from our town posted on here very recently since we are not very well known.
Some of the protests have had police join in. Apparently the Gendarmes are on our side (Military branch of the Police). One mayor of a major town had to backpedal legislation he was trying to push through, the town hall was surrounded by people calling him a collaborator (reference to Vichy and occupied France, very insulting to the point of embarrassment for the person on the receiving end).
And its not letting up. Hang in there all, France will lead the way on this one.
