Why is it soo hard finding a shoe or boot of any type, kind or fabrication that is WIDE enough

I have that same problem. New balance for shoes, Merril for light hiking type boots. Can’t even find Redwings where I am anymore.

I think it's because we're getting larger and fatter, thus widening our feet. Also, these days we wear much more stretchable and flimsy footwear which does not contain your feet but rather allows them to spread.

If you go around barefoot a lot as a child you will tend to have wider feet.
