This is the difference between a watch dog and a guard dog. Watch dogs alert bark when confronted by a potential threat, and guard dogs engage with potential threats. These are both important roles for dogs to fill, as both provide value to the pack.

Actually it was pretty good of that nigger to go out of his way and on his own valuable time to play with those pups, the part that was really warming was when he was showing them how to climb a wall.
