There are three main genetic clusters of jewish populations. There is one that sort of skews toward caucasus/iranian descent but the ashkens are not in it. They and the sephardics cluster pretty close to south east europe but also the levant. Then the yemeni jews are closer to bedouin populations. Jews have collected people in the different places theyve lived in. So some are closer to europeans.

Keep in mind some of their “closeness“ to europeans is due to the fact that europeans have a sizeable mix of middle eastern or anatolian genetics from a migration of early farmers from that area 8000 years ago. The Sardinians and the Basque are good examples of that ancestry.

The thing that sets jews apart from Greeks or Armenians or lebanese or whomever is not so much that they are so divergent from us, like pygmies or aborigines. They aren’t.

Its what theyve been up to for the last 3 or 4 thousand years. Theyve pursued an itenerant—I would say parasitic— strategy. This is an economic strategy that tends to favor scamming off host societies rather than doing any actual work. You see it wiith other itinerants like gypsies and irish travellers. So they are related to lots of groups. They aren’t pure anything. But they are a collection of the “worst” traits in those groups. Itinerancy breeds scumbaggery, manipulativeness, aggressive beggary, professional victimhood.
