wouldn't it be nice to be able to run some basic pre os kernel api before your computer started no matter what BIOS and without suffering through terrible documentation.
Hackers used it on shut down financial servers to modify a computer before boot, just like EFI editors now do, but Apple added a password option on hardware eventually.
Only 50 people on earth worked with Open Boot well enough to at least grok it, mainly to be naughty hackers when people went home ('a janitor attack')
Some of those 50 people may even be on voat.xyz

Its called 'Open Boot' and was used in millions of computers from Apple, Sun, IBM.
