Most bites aren't fatal, you have about 30min before the effects are noticeable and most coastal hospitals will have anti-venom on hand. Only 2-3% or so die from sea snake bites, most are fisherman on trawlers. Olive snakes are pretty docile and will generally bugger off. Kraits and other coral snakes are cunts though, but you see them a mile away and you can outpace them with good fins.
Like I said below barracudas are the nasty buggers, they are like shimmering torpedos that lance you and you bleed out as their teeth are coated with an anti-coagulant. Only time I get out of the water is for king groupers, barracudas and a few shark types.
irukandji. fuck that. they call it like "suicide sting" or something. people beg for death after getting hit with those.
everything is worse in Australia. blue ring octopus. gympy gympy. 7 of 10 of the deadliest snakes are there including one so common its the "common brown".
He has some amazing episodes on youtube (YBS). He is in a remote part of Western Australia. In one episode they have drone footage of them catching a fish and it being chased by sharks. Though there are many fish on the drone footage the sharks only go for the fish that has been hooked. The ocean is the ultimate survival of the fittest.

He almost had an Irwin moment because he doesn't know shit about the ocean, just bogan camping and posing for instagram.

Also, the sharks you see are not the problem, it's the ones you don't see. I spearfish regularly in the warmer months and are typically not an issue.
