The high court has recerntly ruled that civil rights in Australia are only an aspirational value, such as personal liberties like freedom of speech and freedom of movement.

Australia does not have a bill of rights and documents like the Magna Carta only enshrine the basis for common law in this country. Federal commonwealth law and the constitution also mean naught, even when discussing Human Rights.
