Overall, direct evidence of the efficacy of mask use is supportive, but inconclusive. Since there are no RCTs, only one observational trial, and unclear evidence from other respiratory illnesses, we will need to look at a wider body of evidence

Yeah all other evidence he provided was loaded with confounding variables. For example, the masks could have worked because people get more paranoid when masks are worn and mandates imposed.
But it was written by scientists, I was told. Let's all just do as they say. They have our best interests, right? I need to run out and get a soy shake with extra soy.
I started wearing the 3M Brand surgical mask over three years ago, because the worthless AMA decided antibiotics don't work against flu (bullshit!), so you have to suffer it out. The first year I got flu twice. I put that down to the fact that it was pre-COVID days, and the door guard at my banks made me remove it to get in. Then COVID hit, and for the next two years I got the flu NOT ONCE. Nor even a cold. I'm now closing in on Year Four, and still zero flu or colds. For the ten years prior, I got the flu three to five times a year, every year. You can spin doctor that any way your lil heart desires. I believe MY tests and MY results. Screw what whitecoats say. Nicotine is not addictive? LSD causes chromosome damage? Paraquat is harmless to weed smokers? Antibiotics don't work against flu? Global warming/no global warming? Thalidimide and Fenpfen are not dangerous? Wake the fuck up people!!! Scientists and doctors are either telling you what you want to hear, or what they are being paid off to say. Get a clue!
Uh, I've never worn a mask and I've had the flu once in my entire life. I think you may need to swap out your aluminum foil hat for tin foil. Your surgical mask isn't doing shit for you.
Your quote is basically saying "we couldn't find any evidence to support our agenda, so we will have to keep looking for evidence and just think positive in the meantime"... this is what passes for science these days.
Which translates to "give us more money so we can spend more months drawing a salary and give ambiguous results, which will require additional study". Science.
