What would be a quick 0-60 time for a modern sedan?

Specifically an average sedan, not a sports sedan like a Ford SHO.

what would be considered quick?

I had a rental car - a dodge challenger, circa 2014-2016. It has a 0-60 timer built-in. this was just the regular version, not Hellcat or Hemi driven V8s.

I found a nice empty road by the hotel, and tried various patterns (manual shifting, standing on brake release, etc. - btw, dont do the stand on brake release, as soon as you hit the gas, the timer starts).

The best time i was able to do was 6.6 seconds. The mode was around 6.9. The average was about 7.2, as some of the trials were 8+ seconds. The best times were simply "Floor it, and let the machine do everything else." In other words, any human input or attempt to increase the machine would make it worse.

Humbling experience.

honestly even 7.2 is fast for a big car, really fast actually.

Cars have moved to smaller power trains with higher output and acceleration. 6-8 seconds is normal for your run of the mill car now. What do you need to be fast for specifically

I don't need a fast car.

hmmmm most, probably 80% of modern cars are over 8 seconds 0-60. Even 8 would be well over faster than average.

Camrys have always been fast. A 2004+ v6 Camry with vvt-i 24v motor will smoke just about any other modern sedan. They are sleepers for sure. I love 5th gen Camrys because they are as plain as a car gets with no gadgets, just killer build quality and a ton of power.
