We all eat slaughtered animals. We're just removed from that reality. Their flesh is a product to us. People don't even make the mental connection between what they're eating and the animal. It's actually kind of sick. I am guilty too.
As part of my plan to become more based I am thinking about learning how to hunt. I know there is an argument to be made for hunting in that the wild animal lives a much better life than a factory farmed animal but I've also seen documentaries that show intelligence and a true sense of grief when a doe loses her fawn. I know you don't hunt fawns but my point is they are not mindless creatures. I've heard hunting helps control their population so that is one thing that is reasonable imo.
But as for actually killing the thing. I don't know if I have it in me. People love hunting. Why? I honestly believe there is an element of sadistic joy in some modern hunters. The Nuge talked about how people would be less mentally ill if they got their hands in a gut pile every now and then. I don't know how to process that without some element of sadism. Looking the animal in the eye that you just shot and grabbing it by the horns as though its own body belongs to you now (which it does). It's just all kinds of fucked up.
What a great story, thank you for posting this, I enjoyed reading it. I have been wanting to learn to hunt for years now, I am going to commit and get out there this season.
Watch the hunting public on youtube. Those guys travel around to hunting seasons on public land for various game. They explain their strategies and are some really good dudes. I especially like their turkey videos. Turkey hunts are action packed.
I will definitely check that out, thanks for the recommendation! Luckily I'm in an area where I only have to drive about 10 minutes to get some target practice in, as well as good hunting spots.
I've known hunters. Every single one has talked about how they value and honor the life they took. Yes, they hunted for food. And they had the twinge of something akin to 'Woah, I just took another being's life' but not in a soy way.
When a deer is taken correctly and cleanly, the death is instant and they drop where they were shot. There is no suffering. And their meat does not go to waste. Not to devalue each individual but there are so many deer, it's like taking one bird out of a massive flock.
If it’s that much of a hang up for you then try the featherhead method of thanking the animal for its sacrifice and let the animal know that it’s body will not go to waste and that you thank it deeply for its sacrifice so you may live.
It was their way of helping their younger boys cope with the emotions in a positive way.
I would argue that point. You are exactly right. Unless it's a brain or spine shot it's very rare to drop them where they stand. Bow shots are more common for it than shotgun because the deer doesn't hear a shot and won't always know they've been hit, allowing them to stand and bleed out right there. But even that takes time.
I have hunted with a bow and they are not silent to a deer. Unlike a rifle, you have to hit the animal in a vital organ and you're not getting a second shot. Broadheads are designed to cause massive bleeding so unless you get a perfect heart shot you will have to track it.
It’s not fucked up this is the system God made. Everything is perfect. Don’t attach such strong human emotions to a soulless animal. Hunting and providing your own food is a very based and manly act. Don’t weaken yourself and your kin so that an animal may live, they are meant to be eaten either by us or other animals.
idk im more agnostic. but the ecosystem and circle of life are yeah, what you said.
I can't deny they are living thinking beings. It's too easy to say they are just thoughtless beasts. They are mammals just like us. They're conscious living beings with feelings. Now how conscious idk.
No sense in taking a life while being weak about it though. I guess you just have to be strong about the act.
I agree, I love animals even more than most “humans”. They certainly do live and experience the world just as we do, just differently. Even less complex life than deers, if you’ve spent time with and watching animals than you certainly understand that. We are supposed to protect the lesser beings, it is one of the duties of God’s children, the Aryans. Hunting is not abusing that ecosystem of life however. If you want say a prayer thanking God for that animal or something of that sort in honor of the animal.
[ - ] Her0n 1 point 3.7 yearsOct 2, 2021 09:34:58 ago (+1/-0)
The act is over before you or the animal even realize it. Unless you’re a bad shot and hit the gut the animal is dead faster than it would be with most natural deaths.
And always remember, if the tables were turned, that deer would kill and eat you. Cow may look soft, but given the chance they would go full blown EAT ALL THE PROTEIN! And youd be on that list.
You are an animal, you came from hunting. I have known people who were depressed their entire lives until they discovered hunting and/or fishing.
It’s the rawest connection to nature that we have and as of late we have lost that connection completely. Regaining that connection and the act of self reliance is what I think heal the mind and soul, bring them back to harmony.
@obscenity if you don’t think you can kill something, how about growing vegetables or chopping wood first? Obtain some type of resource you need directly from nature. With growing veggies you’re not killing anything sentient but you still might feel the connection and pride I’m talking about. For me the light switched on early because I came from a family of hunters and fishers. For me a trip into nature to bring back provisions for my family brings me pride along with a plethora of other positive emotions. Working a 9-5 to hit the grocery store for some steaks has never made me happy, only remain neutral or fall further into unhappiness because it has always felt hollow to live that way.
I suggest you try it with small game like rabbits and squirrels, or fishing. Take time and think about what you like and don’t like afterwards. It might be that you don’t like hunting small game but birds are more exciting to you. It’s a big hobby for a reason, and the food tastes so much better.
[ - ] Ragnar 1 point 3.7 yearsOct 2, 2021 09:49:54 ago (+1/-0)
You know what else is exhilarating and a raw connection to the nature? Climbing up a mountain. Or even hiking up a mountain. The crisp fresh air, the lower oxygen — aah beautiful and life giving
If only we could combine these activities from time to time. Wait…
I hunt on private land so I can get away with using spears or persistence hunting. Every follow a deer like a serial killer until it gets too tired to stand? I don’t know if I can do that… makes me feel like a serial killer lol. Spears are great though!
Tiring a dear out is going to be too time consuming and I’m not a patient man. Not to mention the constant energy that would require! I mean how many carbs will I need?
I’m not a patient man either, this is how I train myself to have patience. The lessons I think I may learn and the lessons I learned Unexpectedly are worth the calories I burn with the process. Me caveman philosopher
sadism? boy, get a flouride filter and stop eating soy. Killing is what men do. It isn't sadism, it's biological imperative. It isn't good or bad but only part of the ISness of life. "It is what it is." You don't get to judge killers while staring at your plate and seeing food instead of death. YOU are the one who has the psychological disorder.
Seriously, don't be a pussy. Deer fuck up so many cars and crops and you name it, you'd be doing the world a service to harvest a couple per year. Deer are the enemy where I live, and there is no better feeling than killing the enemy.
Spend an hour on YouTube and learn how to butcher it yourself.
[ - ] Mr7Slug 1 point 3.7 yearsOct 2, 2021 10:20:18 ago (+1/-0)
You only feel squimish about what keeps you alive because of the brainwashing. You need to get your hands in a gut pile and remember what it means to be more than a puppet.
That animal is most likely gonna die a violent death. It'll get too old to defend itself and predators will eat it alive. Shooting it gives it a quick death and you'll probably use the meat better than some wolf that just killed it because it was bored.
Voat is filled w blood thirsty meat eaters. Kill all the things and eat all the protein. Then lift heavy things so you can kill more protein. EAT THE PROTEIN.
[ - ] Ragnar 1 point 3.7 yearsOct 2, 2021 09:46:04 ago (+1/-0)
Why are you a protein hater? You can’t survive without it. Though I have come to understand we don’t need as much protein as the fads are pushing. Carbs are essential and are in fact, protein sparing.
What do you have against meat? Although, I will tell you what, it does seem like too much meat ain’t the way to go. The modern world eats too much muscle meat, it’s not good.
It's too expensive. That's my gripe w meat. How am I supposed to hit over 120 grams of protein w costs like they are? I drink whey because it's cheap. I've eaten so much chicken I've started clucking.
And nobody carries liver. Im not sure I could do kidneys and some of the other organs but I can eat some liver. Except it's not in the store because no one buys it.
I wonder if the farmers market might. I keep meaning to go down there...
Stores? Bro, get to your local butchers they got liver, trust me. I ger grass fed beef liver from my local butcher as well as wild boar and bison etc. You need to look for a good butcher. The reason meat is expensive is because they want it to be expensive. They want us to live on soy and legumes. They know the superior power of animal protein. Anyway, meat is not expensive if you buy cheap cuts and make stews which is better for you anyway.
I think most normal people love the sport of it. Most well adjusted people instinctively dislike or even hate the act of taking the life. But they understand that this is the age old penance that must be paid for survival and nurishment. If one cannot face it, they should not eat grocery store packages meat
Lmao, just go vegan, faggot. You really have been mind fucked by the modern world to think it is sadistic to kill an animal. I guess lions, crocodiles and all other predators are evil to you? We evolved to get some enjoyment out of hunting to fill our bellies. Just like sex to reproduce, otherwise we wouldn’t want to do it. And this is coming from someone that has killed nothing but fish.
Its a huge time sink. I personally had about almost 30 hours in various blinds before I had a shot I was confident I could make on an a deer I thought was worth shooting.
I will tell you after 30 hours sitting in silence holding a gun waiting, you will pull that trigger.
Also hunting different animals are totally different experiences. Turkey, is my favorite personally.

but I've also seen documentaries that show intelligence and a true sense of grief when a doe loses her fawn.
Not sure how much of it is intelligence, and how much of it is instincts. The reason I say that is that you can attract a doe rather easily by mimicking the cry of a fawn. The doe will almost always go looking for the fawn even if the doe has no fawns. This by extension will bring out bucks that are looking for a doe.
they are not mindless creatures
They keep eating toxic plants and shitting and vomiting everywhere. They've literally broken into my garden, and almost gotten stuck doing so, and eaten onion leaves. They may not be mindless, but they are damn near it.
Why? I honestly believe there is an element of sadistic joy in some modern hunters.
Most people hunting now and days in countries like Europe and the United States, are European. How many European people have you met that are genuinely sadists? There are two very good reasons why people hunt, and why you should hunt. The first reason, is that we will not be able to just buy food from the grocery store in the long term. There will come a day when you will need to hunt for food, or to slaughter and butcher your own animals. The second reason, is that most of the food you buy in the store, have been poisoned in some way or another. Soy is prevalent in most foods. Fluoride will be prevalent in any foods prepared in fluoridated water. Likewise, you have no idea where the meat you've bought in the store came from, and in cases like hamburger, you have no way of guaranteeing it's actually cow. This is the second reason why you hunt, or raise your own animals, so that you can ensure that the food you're eating, the food that your family is eating, is safe.
The Nuge talked about how people would be less mentally ill if they got their hands in a gut pile every now and then. I don't know how to process that without some element of sadism.
Unless you're going to be making sausages, or making the stomach into a water bladder, you'll only be handling the intestines for at most a minute while you remove them from the animal. Also, their claim that less people would be mentally ill makes sense. Ignoring the poisoned food, one of the biggest causes of mental illness is lack of control over one's own emotions. If you're European, in order to kill another animal, and cut out its guts and process the entire animal; You need to be not only in control of your own emotions, you need to be able to set them aside entirely. I've never met a European hunter or slaughterer that took sadistic joy in killing an animal, and carving it up.
Hunting will give you empathy. It's okay to kill something to eat. It's not okay to torture an animal the way many modern farm corps do. Do it. There are lots of groups to help you get started. I started small with squirrel and I did duck last year. This year or next I will hopefully he taking my first deer. I'm also considering buying whole cows with friends and freezing it.
It's the hard heart that kills. Most hunters are not cold blooded killers but understand that the killing is necessary. You have to turn your emotions off for a few seconds.
But as for actually killing the thing. I don't know if I have it in me.
You won't have it in you. Especially the first time. This is the part where you have to turn your emotions off and just make it to the other side. Once it's done, let the emotions back in. You will feel bad and that's both normal and ok. Only then will you know if you have it in you. Don't analyze your feelings. Analyze the process that comes next. You can walk away and leave the deer there for other animals to eat or you can be a good steward and use everything you are able.
But take a safety course first. There's a reason they made it mandatory for getting a license.
Feeding yourself is not sadism. Killing for no reason, or killing for enjoyment is. You sound like you have a healthy respect for the animal, and you understand they are thinking and emotional things. That's the real key to responsible hunting.
I fish and hunt, and I genuinely do not like killing, but it is a necessary part of life. I don't even like putting a hook through a minnow, even though I do it. I don't let my bait suffer any more than the animals I'm harvesting.
I actually cannot stand people who kill things and waste them, or cause suffering for no reason. Even people who leave their bait in the sun to die really bothers me. Unfortunately it seems like you either understand by the time you're 5 or you never understand it.

Don't be a pussy.
Kill things and eat them.
Start small if you suspect you don't have the stomach for it.
Nail a squirrel with a 22 LR, skin it (you'll be farting squirrel gut farts for awhile), then cook it.
If you can't handle any of that then the worst that happened is you killed a nuisance critter.
Check state laws for seasons if you have non lazy game wardens.
Some of them actually catch people hunting out of season.
