If you have O- blood thay means you lack the A and B oligosaccharides presented on the cell surface of red blood cells as well as the Rhesus factor, or D antigen, cell surface protein. That means any blood with these antigens introduced to your system will be identified as foreign and elicit an immune response.
Try accepting a different blood type first and tell me how it goes.
On the other hand, anyone can accept your blood because you lack all three of the mainly recognized antigens that an immune system would use to identify foreign microbes.
Yeah now that I think about this. Either or both parents could have A or B antigen and both could be Rh pos. They could have both passed a recessive O and a recessive Rh neg gene to the girl. The story does seem absurd though because O- is very common. They wouldnt have to take blood from a tot. So dumb. What makes people fabricate these stories?
I think it's just one of those brain errors due to how it was written, and where the line break occurred. It reads like O-blood, when it was O- blood.
This is why actual medical professionals usually say O-negative or O-positive (not always, but usually).
I've seen this same brain error when you double up a word, but one occurs before the line break and one after. The common example I know was in the style of a brain teaser:
"Don't stop reading until the the end of the sentence."
If you write that down on a small scrap such that the line break looks natural (like it hits the edge of the paper), 99% of people, if asked to read it out loud, will not read the second "the". Your brain just auto-filters it out.
Ah! I see how that would work now. I was able to read the OP and make the - disappear. Kinda like magic.
The "the the" thing is pretty cool. I did spot it, but not until just after I'd skipped over it. If you hadn't prepped me for some kind of weirdness I might not have noticed it.
I wish I were a kid. What happens the first time an Rh- patient receives O+ blood? The immune system starts forming antigens to the Rh(+) proteins. Patient might survive if transfused blood cells die off before antigen kicks in, but will likely die of shock. Pretty risky. 2nd transfusion and dead. This is rudimentary knowledge. O- can be universally used in any patient with A B AB O - and +. O- is the most sought after blood because it is universal. The O- donor has universal blood. Therefore "Universal Donor". Question for you, as I am surprised you're here, how did a nigger find this forum?
Well you are right, not sure if you're down voted because people disagree or because you were a bit of a dick. But honestly the guy you replied to should have probably looked it up before his "I graduated school" comments...
"So you think I'm courageous?" she asked. "Yes, I do." "Perhaps I am. But that's because I've had some inspiring teachers. I'll tell you about one of them. Many years ago, when I worked as a volunteer at Stanford Hospital, I got to know a little girl named Liza who was suffering from a rare and serious disease. Her only chance of recovery appeared to be a blood transfusion from her five-year-old brother, who had miraculously survived the same disease and had developed the antibodies needed to combat the illness. The doctor explained the situation to her little brother, and asked the boy if he would be willing to give his blood to his sister. I saw him hesitate for only a moment before taking a deep breath and saying, 'Yes, I'll do it if it will save Liza.' "As the transfusion progressed, he lay in a bed next to his sister and smiled, as we all did, seeing the color returning to her cheeks. Then his face grew pale and his smile faded. He looked up at the doctor and asked with a trembling voice, 'Will I start to die right away?' "Being young, the boy had misunderstood the doctor; he thought he was going to have to give her all his blood. "Yes, I've learned courage," she added, "because I've had inspiring teachers."
You're also half right and half wrong. O- is definitely the Universal Donor, as it has no A no B and no Rh.
However the Univeral Acceptor is actually AB+, which also makes logical sense, as it has all three: A, B, and Rh. See the linked chart below. Remember + or - just refers to whether or not Rh is present, and A and B refer to, well, A and B.

Parents should have compatible blood types, or well, they wouldn’t have made it through pregnancy.
This story is fake and gay.

AB+ is the Universal Acceptor
O- is the Universal Donor.
