I've been running a two year experiment with eggs and I'm not sick or dying.

So I did that. Coated eggs with mineral oil and stuck those bastards in my fridge for two years. The eggs are good and safe and I'm eating them now.

Ladies, don't do this, have a guy do it for you. Mineral oil will fuck with your estrogen. Or at least wear rubber gloves.

Old-time yachtsman, not an egg expert, most countries don't wash eggs and they are not refrigerated. When the egg is laid it has a natural coating to air seal the shell. Before a long trip on a sailboat we would buy eggs and coat them with vaseline. They would last for months. Usually we ran out of eggs in 2-3 months, so I don't know how long they would stay edible.

I raise birds- at one point I had around 65 for meat and eggs.
The term for this process is glassing and egg. The article is mostly right. You fill the pores so air can't get in. If you have fresh uneashed eggs, you don't need to refrigerate them. If they are store bought, they have been cleaned and you do have to refrigerate those.

How long have you been eating them? If you just started now you could croak tomorrow for all I know.

And are these hard boiled eggs or just raw uncooked two year old eggs? Im not sure why this matters to me but the hard boiled is mentally easier for me to deal w for some reason.

The eggs were stored raw. I scramble them. Been eating on 'em like... 3 days now.

Oof. Actually, eggs don't give me gas. Now that I think about it, I don't think too many foods really do.

I prefer my eggs fresh. I just stand around the coop until a hen starts clucking, then I let it lay it's egg inside my mouth.

The mineral oil doesn't go through the shell. It seals it, kind of like the original natural coating. Makes it air-tight.

I have egg chickens. I don’t wash their eggs and they last more than long enough without any meddling or effort for me.

Fun fact: if you plant an egg it will grow into a chicken. Just remember to water it regularly and give it lots of sun.
