What a damn shame. It reminds me of the scene in "Empire of Dust", where the Chinese engineer is scolding the Congolese because they let the infrastructure left behind by the Belgians utterly decay. He specifically pointed out the railroad tracks that were perfectly functional and intentionally left that way by the Belgians but are now in total disrepair due to neglect.
It's funny, I keep seeing leftists complain about how departing colonial governments intentionally smash up infrastructure just to spite the darkies. They actually believe that's why those countries are shit.
Well how do you expect them to repair them? They can’t even build a house that isn’t on the verge of collapse most of the time. Much less build and shape steel
Maybe I am wrong, but I am sure that the Belgians did try and taught a few of them on how to maintain stuff. (Unlike the Chinese who don't give a fuck and build shit that will break 2 weeks before they leave)
