This is 100% true. A shameful example of the bastardization and dilution of what Star Trek used to be is "Star Trek: Lower Decks". All of the dialogue sounds like it's written by teenagers, everyone acts like idiots, especially the captain, and there's no accountability. Even for an animated series, it's pretty bad.
And it's not just movies -- read John Scalzi's "Redshirts", a Star Trek parody that takes itself too seriously. It's filled with vulgarity and very undignified behavior that would never pass muster compared to 80s era Star Trek.
I like this Critical Drinker guy. He hit the nail on the head. I don't watch anything newer than about 1990 any longer. I knew something is "off" about modern entertainment, and this guy explains exactly why.
