Remember that hate crimes is an attempt to utterly crush opposition.
Its not treated like a regular crime because they care about what could be or come to be in your mind and those of others.

To think in a way they cant accept, to oppose with righteous fury, to resist what they force in any genuine manner can all be snuffed out by first policing the mind and innate human nature. A nature that treats enemies as enemies and dangers as things to destroy or prevent.
