“The reopening of international borders will also help as migrants, workers, students, and tourists gradually return,” the report said.

Ah, yes, migrants and "workers". Australia cannot survive without those.

I dont know how. My rates went up, my rego went up, the roads have not been repaired beyond a quick pot hole fix in 2 years, Our income taxes were not reduced due to not being able to do anything for most of the last 2 years and the government has been running all of its services as a minimal level......

But they have had to pay a fortune in police overtime, health consultants, and have totally gutted their tax base.

A business only pays tax on its profits. So do the self employed.

Not to mention that any business even half serious, that isn't a shop, will have moved to another part of Australia long ago.

If you want to know how serious the problem is, look at the cost of renting office space or light industrial now compared to before.

The whole, everyone is just working from home is a smoke screen, they've left

I was implying that the government has achieved absolutely nothing and still ran out of money.

If no one is paying tax then obviously they wont be giving the government money.

Although, maybe not entirely true, because here there is a tax on everything except bread and water. And some taxes on some items go as high as 60%.
