The US was founded as a Democratic Republic - which means the people vote for those to represent them.
The (((media))) is pushing everyone to believe the US is a democracy so that NY and CA will force the direction of the country, rather than every state having their say.
People have a hard time understanding that most powerful level of government in America was/is supposed to be our various local governments at the town and county level. The Federal government is just to protect the border and help maintain trade among the states, but the idea is that most people wouldn't give two shits about who became president because it was never going to effect them.
