Cute little fucker. It was super docile for some reason, and my wife thinks I'm a retard for picking it up.

You are retarded. That is not a moccasin. That is a yellow-bellied water snake and is completely harmless.

Yeah, I am retarded. Wanna go catch some snakes with me? I'll bring the moonshine.

Good eye! I don't mind being wrong if I get to learn something.

Shine? Hell yeah. As long as it's actual shine and not everclear in a milk jug.

Got a mason jar of home still that won't make you blind.

I've read that the "going blind" stuff was the feds contaminating moonshine to make people afraid to drink it.

I really like this park when the temperature is lower. We saw four gators in the hour we were there, one fat fucker that had to be close to a 10 footer. Snakes hang out on and beside the chert rock gravel path sunning themselves. I've seen feral horses twice there, the place is awesome. You're right about the species though. The snake in the picture was about a foot long, and I was excited to share. Didn't do my due diligence.

This wasn't the first, probably not the last cottonmouth I've handled. For a venomous snake they're really on the safe side of the spectrum. I wouldn't recommend going out and trying it, but I grew up handling these creatures and far more dangerous ones. They can sense fear and anxiety, though. Confidence plays a large part in safely handling any animal. Anyone who has ridden horses knows that if you're a nervous wreck you're going to have a bad time. I do love snakes though, there's just something about them that makes me happy to see them. It was a cool encounter.

That is not a cottonmouth and you have very likely never handled one. They are much more rare than people think. That is a water snake.

I was looking at the picture again, and you're probably right. It's head isn't shaped like a vipers head should be. I know the adults are usually jet black, but the adolescent snakes are definitely patterned. Cottonmouths aren't that rare, not in Florida at least. Also I was basically in the swamp today, so it's definitely the right terrain. Anyway, doesn't matter. I caught a snake, and my wife thinks I'm a retard, I stand by those statements.

The pupils are round.

Instead of oval. When you're right you're right and I was wrong.

I'll still give you an upvote for having way more balls around snakes than I ever would! Lived in Arizona almost my whole life and the closest I've come was a rattlers head in Lucite.

They can mix-breed with Copperheads, goy.

[ - ] xmasskull 1 point 3.4 yearsDec 6, 2021 01:44:21 ago (+1/-0)

The two breeds seldom come into contact, they prefer opposite environments.

Have you ever walked the edge of an Oak bottom in Louisiana?

[ - ] xmasskull 1 point 3.4 yearsDec 6, 2021 02:22:02 ago (+1/-0)

No.

Where I live its very common and they are treated as Copperheads. -Real water moccasins. Not the shit the goy uploader posted.
