First, Egyptians are not the same as other north or sub-Saharan Africans. There is evidence of an ethnic variety in civilized Egypt, including something like a caste system with clearly delineated borders. The upper echelons were not the same as slaves. In addition to the gradations in color that could be observed going from the bottom to the top of the hierarchy, there was an even more general geographic gradation going from lighter in the north to darker in south as one moves toward Sudan.

Someone claiming a deep roots connection to the upper class of ancient Egypt just because they are African is stupid.

Second, the mathematics of the ancient Egyptians was not math as you understand it today, in terms of abstract algebraic equations. It was highly practical. It was ingenious, no doubt. Nobody needs to denigrate what these people were doing, but math as we know it begins with the Greeks. Nobody writing in the history of mathematics would ever have suggested otherwise.

So this woman probably has no real claim. Not only was she not related to the class who was doing any of the original agricultural planning in Egypt, even those people didn't do any math that would have advanced the world by making it a truly abstract system. Their math would have stayed connected to the specific activities that a given calculation was being used to do.
