I wonder this too. I see a lot of these vids, where folks are getting their heads/hands/feet cut off, or drowned int he pool or shot in the head... and they don't seem to really care.
I've wondered about are they suffering from "long term sleep deprivation?", hard opiate use? ...its a very strange phenomenon for sure...

The video just didn't carry on long enough for you to see her begin registering the pain. It'll set in. People are sometimes in a state of something like 'waking shock'; a mix of adrenaline, sensory overload, and literally not even properly processing the situation. The train man from the Hindu/trains video was a good example. The man has his legs torn apart by the train, and he just looks at them. Then he looks at the man who saved his life with a glance that is like, "Why did you pull me back?" It looks as if he is feeling nothing. He's not screaming, not even wincing.
Since, they are likely dealing with a cartel here, they may well be addicted to the local opiates. I even wonder if they give them something as their version of mercy. Even the shock of getting shot shouldn't preclude them from feeling pain. I shot a pneumatic nail into my hand and I was yelling before I had any idea what I had done.
