Also, people I've known have always gotten their cash back when arrested. Maybe if you owe them money they don't give it back? They do take your cash and deposit it then give you back the amount you had when you get out, so that cash is centralized and not sitting around in random personal effects bags. I'm sure there's some under the table theft that goes on.

If I were to play the lotto and win $30k that's what I would do. Set asside ~$10k for taxes, then use the rest for a home upgrade. Probably get it painted. And if there's any leftover, get a sprinkler system set up.

Have you ever tried to sell gold? It is too expensive to use as trade or barter. Trying to sell, the VIG eats it up. I bought a bunch of gold in Thailand which was 22k, NONE of the assholes here in 'Merica would give me that value saying the maximum gold weight by volume they pay for jewelry was 21k. Then on top of that the BEST I found when trying to sell some for medical expenses was minus a 10% VIG. Fuck gold. It is useless in today's society. Silver is much better for preps. You can barter goods with that, it is substantial, & it also holds it's value like gold.

You can carry, concealed on your person, enough gold to live for a year or finance a voyage anywhere in the world. You can't do that with silver.
