It's all scripted.

Every last piece of reality is scripted.

Nothing that happens on the world stage is left to chance, that's why everyone involved reads the same script and plays their part.

The only way to counter this is to destroy as many (most/all) of the comforts us peasants have. Waking the peasants up quickly will take everything off script.
