Yet, wolves still exist, far more wary, distrustful, and violent than before.
If anything this should give you hope for your kin.

The only reason lions and tigers were not bred into something else entirely, is because Europeans, for the most part, have never had access to them. Go and take a look at private European zoos that have lions and tigers. You will find dysgenic specimens being explicitly bred because they look different. You will find the mongrel ligers, which suffer for most of their short lives, as they should not be.
The lion and tiger is now a couple hundred years away from looking like the picture you posted.
