Huxley saw a very different future from Orwell, although equally dystopian. He saw a future where the few controlled the masses via conditioning and empty amusement rather than open oppression. One comparison, in 1984 sex is discouraged and suppressed whereas in BNW sex is so indiscriminate as to lose meaning. Two different ways of eliminating intimate relationships. Well worth reading as some of the current trends in pop culture are similar enough to be discomforting.
