Masterful? There's some compelling points, in particular the rhyming and cadence of the translated poems. Other things like getting extra butter for Christmas isn't so weird. They were in a Christian nation, it makes sense something extra was given in the rations that week.
I think some people in this thread are missing the point. Of course it would be possible to come up with a reason why her diary might reflect more action around Christian holidays. As you point out, they were captive in a Christian nation. But what you're failing to register is that this is ostensibly the personal diary of a Jew, not a Christian. Anne Frank's diary is not a formal history, taken up by some trained historian, or even documentary in the sense of being journalistic. It's supposed to be a personal account from a young teenage girl. The argument is a psychological argument.
The fact that the document makes more to do about Christian holidays (even at one point showing resentment over other people being able to celebrate Whitsun holiday while she and her family were cooped up) is what stands out. You would expect that an observant Jew would at least personally (a) jot down some remarks about the occasions of highest religious and ceremonial significance in her own tradition as they happened, and (b) not refer to the New Year as the Christian one without ever marking Rosh Hashanah in her own diary. As you say, we would expect some events to orbit around Christian holidays, but we would also expect the personal thoughts of a religious Jew to also gravitate to her own Jewish holidays and for her to mention these in her own personal diary.
For me, the biggest takeaway was the language. This girl was supposedly 12 or 13, and it's quite obvious that the sophistication of the language in that diary is well beyond that level. I don't mean sophistication in the sense that a 13-yr old couldn't form such sentences. I mean that there is a sensibility in it and a worldliness that betrays adulthood, not the thoughts of a 13-yr old.
For fuck's sake, she subtly criticizes another young boy (her own age) for lacking religion and scoffing at Jesus Christ.
She. Is. A. Jew.
This is a piece of historical fiction, written not by a child, but by an adult, and it was written for white Western ears. As a piece of new historical canon for the new Holocaustic religion about to be imprinted via the school system of indoctrination into the heads of all Aryan children.
What a joke. Did you even watch to the end? He's literally talking about a German officer who was a "remote viewer", a "prophet" who got a vision from God about how Anne Frank would be famous.
I stopped where he assumed “pork” sausages. Nowhere did it say pork. Besides, this mongrel reads at a third grade retard level. His demonstrative enunciations reek of illiteracy.
