If you have a margin, and you increase your price, your profit also increases. Of course your money is also worth 75% of what it was before.

If you have a margin, and you increase your price, and that price increase doesn’t result in a corresponding decrease in demand, your profit also increases.

If you can raise prices without a corresponding decrease in demand that means the PED of the product you’re selling is <1 and you either don’t have much competition or your competition isn’t very good. Starbucks aren’t exactly selling essential products, if you’re unhappy with the prices they’re charging or the margins they’re enjoying then just don’t shop there and remember that if other people do choose to shop there it does not affect you in any way, shape or form.

I don't see how that accounts for inflation. Which is absolutely one of the reasons Starbucks has been raising prices.

1. If there's inflation then profits will have to go up just to stay the same. Same goes with prices.

2. For a multinational company a few million is a drop in the bucket. It wouldn't matter if they paid their CEO minimum wage and used the rest to drop the price of coffee, it probably wouldn't even take a cent off your soy latte.
