Martin Luther was a Catholic monk that was one of those typical studious monks studying this that and the other. He spoke at least five languages and it appears he may have read the talmud because he flipped and wrote a book about how really horrible jews were.

Luther and a lot of others were fed up with the Pope selling redemption of sins for money. They said faith alone brought people to God and not money or good works. They pushed Solo Gratia instead. That's the idea that you help others simply because it needs to be done and it has to be practical; like teach a man to fish.

Luther said that the Bible had to be available to everyone, and because there were so mant regional dialects in Germany, it had to be available in everyone's language. That didn't sit well with the Catholics who believe people need to be guided and the Bible has to be "interpreted" by theologians, or priests.

Luther preached, but he preached that people didn't need preachers. The religion was between a man and God and he had the Bible itself to guide him.

Because they were protesting the Catholic Church they were protestants of course.

Luther's gang ends up in Britain because they're not being being treated very well. And since they were able to come so very close to taking down the Caholic Church Queen Mary, otherwise known to history as Bloody Mary starts having them burned at the stake. Because monarchies would be next. And were from the US.

Some of them end up in Geneva and come up with a new Bible. It's got margin notes that are kind of a fuck you, and not very mannerly. King James, is a little concerned. so he comes up with the quieter King James version to counter it.

By the time they were sailing to the new world with the Geneva Bible on board, they were the Puritans who put the town slut in display in the town stocks. Over time they became the quieter KJV of protestants, but still said you'd go to hell if you worked on Sundays or cheated on your wife.

The jews came along a little over a hundred years ago and fucked up the southern evangelist version with the Scofield study Bible and their worship the jew bullshit.

Lutherans build churches for the same reason people vote instead of run; it's just easier. The intention was more along the line of a book club meeting in your living room to talk it over.
