I grew up on the beach near St. Pete in the 70's. I cant tell you how many NY'ers I've seen driving 20 mph below the speed limit in their Cadillac's in the left lane looking for a restaurant or their hotel.

If they drove like that in NY theyd be run off the road and shot.

They act like theyve never seen a line before and step right in front of you.

Theres 4x as much traffic here than in the past. They build new condos on a postage stamp piece of land on the beach. Theres no parking.

We were warned about the water level in the aquifer 40 years ago. But they just keep building.

My sister bought a house in Seminole 3 years ago for 180K. Its now worth 400K?

There is a way out though. If you go 1-2 hours north of St.Pete/Tampa your money goes 2-3x further as far as housing.

I plan on getting a few acres in the sticks and building a range to shoot on my property.

I havent gone to the beach in 20 years anyway.

I was at Shoot Straight this weekend and saw a pretty young woman buy a Glock. I said "Glock hunh? Good choice."

She smiled and excitedly told me "I just moved here from Jersey!". I laughed and said "Welcome to the Free State of Florida!". She was pretty after all.

There was a sheriffs deputy standing there and he laughed and said the same thing! I told her "Now get your carry permit."

It's extremely tiring because all the NYers know only three cities in Florida- Tampa Bay, Orlando, and Miami. It's crowded as fuck. I'm waiting for gatorAIDS to go airborne.

Bradenton is a shithole full of tweakers and burnouts. There is a reason us locals call it Bradentucky. Cortez is cool, it's where a lot of the local fishing fleet is based. There is a reason we call Palmetto Palmghetto.

I’m up in New Port Richey. It’s not awful yet. Though we definitely have our meth head population.

Bought a house 3 years ago. I wanted land, the wife wanted a pool. So we compromised and got the pool.

It’s not a bad place though. My big conundrum is making my house more defensible without also making it an obvious target. I know a lot of guys are getting tax stamps to do whiz bang shit with various guns, but I’ve avoided that, specifically because I don’t want the feds knowing what I have. Or don’t have.

Really, I just have a board with a nail in it.

Anywho, Florida seems to be a pretty decent place to be for the crash, but if you don’t live here already, fuck off, we’re full.

This is exactly what happened in CT. Used to be very livable, but NYers fleeing the shithole they created over the past few decades have made it an unlivable hell unless you're wealthy.
