All of this time with no overt aggression, and then wam, out of the blue. Right when we were thinking of lifting sanctions and buying a shitton of oil from them, Venezuela, and Cuba to offset the loss of Russian oil, what a strange Cohencidence. What would Iran stand to gain from this action? Israel's greatest enemy just lost a huge source of potential income.

The oil/nuclear/sanctions deal died a couple days ago already. Russia shot it down by adding impossible conditions via their seat on OPEC.

Maybe that's why Iran did this, maybe there's some other reason, but they certainly wouldn't have done this if the deal was still on the table.

Explosion to noise was about .8 sec, meaning the explosion was roughly .15 miles away, which is about 800 feet away. Not a very impressive payload.
