LOl, i read these several years ago after finding them in my sisters bookshelf.
I found the segment of planting seeds found later in the books amusing in a kind of old wives tale way.
Leave seeds out under that month's new/ full moon over night, insert them into your mouth to thoroughly immerse them in one's saliva (DNA ) do a little ritual/ pray to the God mother when planting and whenever you water them it must be from after you shower/ bath in fresh water and slake off the water from your body over the growing shoots/ plants (to further impress your DNA or whatever) and bingo your own vegetable garden 'genetically tuned' into yourself. Legit 100% ....

I will listen out for "ringing cedars (pines)".
