Heh, 20+ years ago I passed mine as a young teen. The test? Drive the PT coach to the computer repair shop the next town over to pick up his pc.

Then again, I'd been driving for awhile at that point "unofficially" as it were, and was quite into motor vehicles at the time. Everything from pedaled mopeds to giant drag cars. Even had a small job in the drag circuit for a bit. That's how I learned to drive too, on a "street legal" drag car with street tires slapped on it.

The US doesn't have a uniform driving test, it's done at the state level. Some states require drivers ed and are rigorous with their testing, others do not and are lax.

They are though, and insurance shows it. I've visited all 50 states and 2 territories. I can say without hesitation that Florida drivers are bad enough that I can't actually think of worse ones.

Another thing I see on Florida highways is a shouldered vehicle every 2 miles. It's worse than climbing a desert mountain pass, all the time. The law says to move to the far lane or slow down 20mph if you can't. Well every time I move out of the lane someone takes it and passes me on the right doing 85mph right next to the shouldered vehicle. In a sick way this makes sense. There are enough shouldered vehicles in Florida to effectively lower the right lane speed limit to 50mph at all times.

I see a wreck about every other day there. It really is that bad.

Driving home one day in FL, this tard in a pickup drives perpendicularly onto a highway (multiple cars going 70+) from the side of the highway. At this point of this highway there is 4 lanes and a lane merging in. He was initially lined up with traffic, puts it in reverse and goes perpendicular then guns it onto the highway over 2 and half lanes. I SLAM my brakes and start fishtailing toward him. Fortunately he must of had 1 good braincell to tell him to turn into a lane, at which point I missed him by inches/seconds. I immediately floor it cause of the traffic coming up behind me to avoid any potential accident from traffic behind me doing the same.

Another time I was stuck in traffic 2 hours due to 3 separate accidents on a 15 min stretch of highway.
