I have never been anti-military, but I've always been anti-draft. I could never understand why people who are stridently pro-freedom and anti-slavery can sustain the cognitive dissonance needed to believe that a man is free from birth from involuntary servitude, yet the government can legally compel a man to serve in the military for a minimum of two years or else face imprisonment. I'm old enough to remember when there was a draft, and it never made any fucking sense to me.

If we lived in a world where communities were based on actual contracts you had to physically sign and agree to then it might make sense. I'm not risking my life for some kind of unwritten "social contract" though.

That's the biggest fault I see in the "social contract" idea. It's unwritten, it doesn't guarantee rights, and can be broken any time arbitrarily when "social standards" somehow don't recognize previous notions of the "social contract". What's "right for the people" is always what the social mindset is. Don't like high taxes? Tough. Pay your share because everyone else is.

Anyone can say anything is in a social contract. It's meaningless.

Oh and I also have a browser filter that corrects "social" to "bullshit." It's so fucking accurate: Bullshit housing, bullshitworker, anti-bullshit behaviour, bullshitism, bullshit justice, bullshit networking, bullshit contract etc.

Nah, they won't go door to door. They'll send out letters and get people to voluntarily comply. Then the ones who don't show up they'll follow up with courts summons. If you don't show up to that they'll just issue an arrest warrent and the next time a cop decides he doesn't like the look of your car you'll end up being hauled off to jail.
