Explain hipsterism then. They will convince themselves they like trash that was never popular and become disinterested if it gains any popularity. The association between obscurity and high value is strong for many. Lots of near garbage tier 'vintage' shit is prized by collectors. Everything is a potential 'hidden gem' to them.
