Never built one. Ran the top through the planer but still have to attach it. Will update with pics when it's complete.

That's a lot of lumber. Are you a billionaire?

[ - ] Epictetus 2 points 3.2 yearsApr 17, 2022 05:38:56 ago (+2/-0)

No kidding.

I've found pallets are an ideal length board for frames now that only the elite can walk into a hardware store and afford anything. https://files.catbox.moe/3d1dvt.jpg

I know. Went into a hardware store looking for some 1x2s; couldn't even find any. 2x4 studs were $7.50 apiece though.

I work in construction and just took all the cutoffs

[ - ] UncleDoug 7 points 3.2 yearsApr 17, 2022 00:30:25 ago (+8/-1)

Zero swastikas on it

[ - ] NedsHead 2 points 3.2 yearsApr 17, 2022 01:10:09 ago (+2/-0)

[ - ] con77 1 point 3.2 yearsApr 17, 2022 01:01:49 ago (+1/-0)

how you gonna finish it?

[ - ] OriginalGoat [op] 0 points 3.2 yearsApr 17, 2022 11:51:30 ago (+0/-0)

I have leftover fence finish from last years project.

[ - ] FalseRealityCheck 0 points 3.2 yearsApr 17, 2022 21:07:52 ago (+0/-0)

Use something good. You will be amazed at how fast wood like that rots when not properly treated.

[ - ] FalseRealityCheck 0 points 3.2 yearsApr 17, 2022 18:56:15 ago (+0/-0)

Are you going to treat the wood with something so it doesn't rot as quickly as it otherwise would?

[ - ] OriginalGoat [op] 0 points 3.2 yearsApr 17, 2022 20:54:25 ago (+0/-0)

Yes, i have some finish lying around

[ - ] Anus_Expander 0 points 3.2 yearsApr 17, 2022 15:17:00 ago (+0/-0)

Those corners are a DISGRACE. Use waterproof glue, corner clamps, and recessed screws to hold that shit together, goy.--a finish carpenter that fucked yr mum

[ - ] OriginalGoat [op] 0 points 3.2 yearsApr 17, 2022 16:20:11 ago (+0/-0)

They aren't great, I used glue and corner clamps but don't have a hand planer to fix up the mitres and I'm a retard so... Next time

[ - ] Anus_Expander 1 point 3.2 yearsApr 17, 2022 17:48:10 ago (+1/-0)

Just givin you a hard time, at least you are doing something besides watchin TV or playing video games

[ - ] GroundskeeperWillie 0 points 3.2 yearsApr 18, 2022 14:26:01 ago (+0/-0)

A easy way to fix mitres like that is just run your circ saw inbetween the 2 45's. Dont forget to set the blade depth though.

[ - ] OriginalGoat [op] 0 points 3.2 yearsApr 18, 2022 19:25:38 ago (+0/-0)

This is actually fantastic advice. Thanks.

[ - ] Sol_Invictus 0 points 3.2 yearsApr 17, 2022 11:06:46 ago (+0/-0)

Looks great. Did you follow a plan or figure it out yourself?

[ - ] OriginalGoat [op] 0 points 3.2 yearsApr 17, 2022 11:49:12 ago (+0/-0)

I just looked at a picture of one and built it from there

[ - ] beece 0 points 3.2 yearsApr 17, 2022 07:29:15 ago (+0/-0)

Damned nice. Looks a lot better than the ones I'd built for my wife @10 years back. Mine are still holding up fine though, so can't complain.

[ - ] mrevilpirate 0 points 3.2 yearsApr 17, 2022 07:08:47 ago (+0/-0)

Consider lining the inside with something? So wet soil isn’t in constant contact with the wood? My raised beds are made from untreated lumber they rot out every 5 years or so. Nice work.

[ - ] mrevilpirate 1 point 3.2 yearsApr 17, 2022 07:10:17 ago (+1/-0)

Also. Not sure what you used for fasteners. Lag bolts or carriage bolts with washers and nuts are much better than screws. The screws will pull out in a couple years. I used 4x4 posts at the corners.

[ - ] Sneezy 0 points 3.2 yearsApr 17, 2022 08:13:56 ago (+0/-0)

I use metal fence posts to hold and support the corners. The weight of the soil is hard on the corners.

[ - ] OriginalGoat [op] 0 points 3.2 yearsApr 17, 2022 11:51:03 ago (+0/-0)

I'm going to line it with garden bed liner. I'll try lag bolts on the next one, good idea.

What planer do you have?

[ - ] OriginalGoat [op] 0 points 3.2 yearsApr 17, 2022 09:14:47 ago (+0/-0)*

I have an old Makita jointer planer combo from the 80s, thing weighs a ton.

[ - ] recon_johnny 0 points 3.2 yearsApr 18, 2022 12:49:11 ago (+0/-0)

I had a 13" Wen that always left lots of snipe no matter how much I adjusted it. Got rid of it.

[ - ] UrCoolerOlderBrother 0 points 3.2 yearsApr 17, 2022 04:56:39 ago (+0/-0)

Cool. Looks good. Don't forget to shlack that bitch. Also, when you're done, you should grow some big beautiful marijuana flowers in it.

[ - ] Anus_Expander 0 points 3.2 yearsApr 17, 2022 15:18:40 ago (+0/-0)

wtf is 'shlack', nigger???

[ - ] UrCoolerOlderBrother 0 points 3.1 yearsMay 2, 2022 16:41:37 ago (+0/-0)

Shellac. Don't people still use that shit? Lol

[ - ] Anus_Expander 0 points 3.1 yearsMay 2, 2022 17:34:39 ago (+0/-0)

I use shellac primer on a fairly regular basis, great for sealing old wood doors and trim before painting.

[ - ] thebearfromstartrack4 0 points 3.2 yearsApr 17, 2022 04:02:25 ago (+0/-0)

You should drink. Despite the regrets. aVDOIding is NOT the problem.

[ - ] DoughGoy 0 points 3.2 yearsApr 17, 2022 03:23:04 ago (+0/-0)

Dang. That is some nice work.

[ - ] Belrick 0 points 3.2 yearsApr 17, 2022 00:56:54 ago (+0/-0)

Too small for growing food like lambs.

Presumably for flowers?

[ - ] I_am_baal 0 points 3.2 yearsApr 17, 2022 00:24:21 ago (+0/-0)

Awesome; I've gotta build some stuff like that too this year.

[ - ] 1Icemonkey 0 points 3.2 yearsApr 17, 2022 00:18:28 ago (+0/-0)

That’s pretty sweet. What wood is that?

[ - ] paul_neri 0 points 3.2 yearsApr 17, 2022 00:18:14 ago (+0/-0)

Very professional.

[ - ] Broc_Liath 0 points 3.2 yearsApr 16, 2022 23:12:38 ago (+0/-0)

Looks great!

What's going to go in it?

[ - ] AOUsYamaka 0 points 3.2 yearsApr 16, 2022 22:00:57 ago (+0/-0)

Very nice. Chair’s nice too.
