Back when I was a kid it was "the earth is going to be a desert by the millenium." 2000 came and went without anything important happening, I figured they were just off by a few years, but the deadlines kept coming and going. There's only so many times you can call wolf without people waking up.

Well, it appears we're only in an interglacial period, and the long-term trend (over thousands of years) is for cooler weather. If anything extra CO2 in the atmosphere helps as a counter.

It's old though and NASA has since readjusted the data and say that humans are still killing the planet.

Same for the "no significant warming" thing. A few years back people started fighting back against the meme, the hockey stick graph came under scrutiny and instead of a catastrophic spike in temperatures newer data suggested a dip.

Since then they've "corrected" the dip and all new data shows hottest years on record whenever possible. Make of that what you will.

TL;DR : Don't bother sharing that meme with normies because there's a bunch of deboonking articles about it quoting the party line as evidence.

Cheers for the legwork. I'll read through it as I actually want to understand what's happening in the world. The hockey stick misrepresentation was egregious , literally graph crimes 101. The fact it got so much traction is evidence that facts do not matter.

Yeah, none of this is about facts, it's a religion. Unfortunately they've gotten smarter about it: They're less specific in their claims now and the predictions are farther out so by the time they fail to materialise people have forgotten.

Meanwhile; the Google start page shows an arctic region loosing its permafrost year over year. There were several posts on Reddit a few days ago about people claiming that the sun and moon are not rising and setting where they used to. It makes me wonder if our rotation is moving (pole shift?) Is it possible that locations have permanently lost their ice cover while at the same time others are collecting record ice accumulation? Maybe they are using "real" data that is carefully chosen and babbling global warming while the poles are moving.

The fundamental problem I have with all of this is there's a lot of money floating around for these programs. They inevitably get more corrupt over time feeding on the $$$.

They did, then they very quickly produced all kinds of trash studies to claim the opposite. It doesn't have to be true because no one will actually read the papers, it just has to say so in a headline about the paper.
