I got onto the internet in 1993, GOPHER. A couple years later I had internet over dialup at home! I miss when USENET was good.

I went on through compuserve in 1996 when I was 16 years old. After my parents got their first outrageous phone bill. I figured out how to jack into the neighborhood connector box.

Makes me wish so badly I'd wake up in the early 90s as this was all about to pop off.

Why is the future so fucking disappointing?

Only retards were on AOL in the 90’s.

It was women who had been taught that their emotions are intuition and must be obeyed, that flooded the internet when yahoo, hewlitt packard and microsoft made it it point and shoot who helped the jews create a fake reality for them and destroyed the internet and the world.

[ - ] TheBigGuyFromQueens 1 point 3.1 yearsApr 27, 2022 00:15:16 ago (+1/-0)

I had a Prodigy account back when I was 15. As an adult, I had AOL in the late 90's.

[ - ] Empire_of_the_Mind 0 points 3.1 yearsApr 27, 2022 01:43:57 ago (+0/-0)

Actual internet was only $20/month back then, cheaper than AOL. Your parents didn’t love you.

Local ISP's proliferated by 1995. They'd have a bank of local numbers and unlimited hours was common at that $20-25/month price point. If you lived in a very rural area with no local calling to a city of 50k or so you could use the AOL 800# and watch your hours, but to think your rural experience was common is absurd.

First got into programming (Visual Basic) back then too.

I have a lot of find memories of coding in VB6. Always got a bad rap from lame programmers "putting all the code behind the form" and it would go hardcore if you had the chops.

2007? Try 2001. If you're talking about the smartphone blitz, then yes; that did make it worse.

So you remember ICQ chat rooms? I learned some lessons about the internet because of ICQ. Last time I ever travel cross country to meet a girl off the internet. She said she was 18. She was 16. I was only 18 so no big deal, but her parents didn't share my views.

I remember ICQ. One of my first internet experiences was exchanging Donkey Kong Country glitches on newsgroups as a kid, typing slowly with my index fingers. I was one of, if not the first people to find the Mine Cart Carnage flying glitch that affected earlier revisions. Also remember exchanging OoT and Goldeneye rumors on ICQ later on.

As stated already, IRC was better, but I got into it later when the sixth-gen console homebrew/hacking scenes came about.

Gen x is best gen

Boomers are Christ cuck sheep

Millenials are communist loving woke fags with 0 balls

[ - ] MuricaPersonified 4 points 3.1 yearsApr 27, 2022 00:38:26 ago (+4/-0)*

Gen X were arguably worse parents than boomers; totally apathetic to any cultural (aside from pop) values and apathetic to their kids and their futures. Gen X is the middle management generation- the worst of both worlds.

The people most disenfranchised are those of mine: The mid to late 80's born. We're technically Millennial, but we often had a solid upbringing from non-flower child boomers and still held some trad values without tech interference. Much different from post-90 Millenials.

I find the sub-classification of "Gen Y" is more appropriate.

[ - ] diggernicks 3 points 3.1 yearsApr 27, 2022 09:45:15 ago (+3/-0)

I was born in 77

No fucking person my age had children in the mid to late 80s

Nice try you delusional retard

People that age had boomer parents or at the VERY beginning of gen x

[ - ] MuricaPersonified 0 points 3.1 yearsApr 27, 2022 17:24:40 ago (+0/-0)

Brush up on your reading comprehension, faggot; I didn't say Gen X had kids in the 80s. I said they were arguably worse as parents.

[ - ] diggernicks 0 points 3.1 yearsApr 27, 2022 21:01:41 ago (+0/-0)

The mid to late 80's born

Thats not gen x you dumb nigger

Those are millenials

Gen x stopped after 1980

[ - ] MuricaPersonified 0 points 3.1 yearsApr 27, 2022 21:19:04 ago (+0/-0)

Again, I DID NOT say that they were. Those are Millennials, which I think deserve the distinction of "Gen Y".

I separated the points with paragraphs.

[ - ] diggernicks 0 points 3.1 yearsApr 27, 2022 21:22:39 ago (+0/-0)

Either way what you said makes no sense you retarded nigger

People BORN then weren't gen x and gen x had kids fucking later than that you special olympian

[ - ] MuricaPersonified 0 points 3.1 yearsApr 27, 2022 21:50:19 ago (+0/-0)

God damn, you're fucking stupid. Learn how to read, you dolt.

Gen X were arguably worse parents than boomers; totally apathetic to any cultural (aside from pop) values and apathetic to their kids and their futures. Gen X is the middle management generation- the worst of both worlds.

That paragraph introduces just ONE idea: That Gen X did a shittier job raising kids than boomers.

The people most disenfranchised are those of mine: The mid to late 80's born. We're technically Millennial, but we often had a solid upbringing from non-flower child boomers and still held some trad values without tech interference. Much different from post-90 Millenials.

This parapraph introduces a second concept: That the Millenial generation is fractured and that those born after the 80s grew up differently and have a completely different outlook.

I then point out that Gen Y (born mid-late 80s) are a unique subset of Millenial.

I may have been drunk off my rocker wheb commenting last night, but your reading comprehension is truly abysmal.
