This kid was epileptic, but seizures from epilepsy hardly ever result in death.
Can confirm, when I was a kid I had a serious seizure, stopped breathing for a few minutes, and fucked up my face.

Didn't kill me, just royally fucked up my memory around that time period.

Nope, only the seizure. In terms of what I remember, I was sitting in front of a computer playing some video games, and then I was in a hospital with no in-between. Evidently I had talked to a few people, my mom, the nurses, etc., but I have no memory of it.

My memory for a couple years after that was a bit messed up, but it's mostly sorted itself out.
