I don't think that would make any difference. It will take some time for the printing press to either slow down or destroy everything. Once it slows down the gibs that allow people to not work will also slow down.

I am pretty sure this is planned, boomers spending their investments (or dying and their children spending them quickly) is going to cause an acceleration of these issues that will end up out of control. Destroying the economy will allow the rulers to buy up these investments rather than see them squandered, but either way the amount of money and support will decrease very quickly.
