They still have to be cleaned. Back in boot camp, cleaning boots was awesome. I could just sit down and relax and the drill Sergeant doesn't fuck around with you if you are cleaning boots.

Eventually, I was recognized as "The guy who likes to clean boots". So, everyone would bring me their boots to be cleaned. I could trade this service for lots of crazy shit. But the best trade was getting out of fire watch duty.

We had a day off to shine our boots, get mail, and clean our denims. Doing either would keep the eye of Sauron off you for awhile so nobody really traded that as a service.

Why are you and the guy before you referring to the very beginning period of a military career? We had to polish boots, every fucking day, for the entire 8 years I was in the Army, with the exception of the time I was deployed and issued desert boots.

And "a day off" to shine boots? LoL! What the fuck kind of pogue shit is that? No, we didn't get a fucking day off to polish boots. You did that shit every day and you just fucking tried to find the time to fucking do it.
