There's a Sirius channel I listen to on the road a lot, and I turn the volume down to inaudible levels whenever a Primus song is played. "B-b-b-but Les Claypool and 'da bass". I wouldn't give a fuck if Claypool was the most technical bassist in the history of music. Write something listenable.

Couldn't agree more. Huge primus fan since early 90s. I feel like Les spit in my eye with this album. I'm done with him. Was planning to hit the Rush tribute tour this fall. Plans cancelled.

Did they actually write it, or were they handed it and told to make it sound catchy? No doubt they're actively acting as tools for the system. They're pretty played out by now, they're probably just being a mouth piece for a paycheck. It's not an excuse as much as it's an explanation.

The lyrics are a childish rhyme: Skies, pies, lies, eyes. Head, bed.

It's definitely naive art written by someone more into their agenda than writing songs. It reminds of Bill Nye's featured song, "Sex Junk". They had something to say and forced it into a cringe piece. Compared with an old cringe standard, "Yo I'm Freddy Flintstone and I'm here to say, I love Fruity Pebbles in a major way", this is about 10x worse.

I wouldn't doubt it if the "sex junk" people wrote this because the cringe matches closely.

Years ago i remember a documentary on some Swedish (??/) writing agency that pumps out hundreds of 'pop' song trash a years, that the Music corp's agents shill to their Label Artists - the artist also get the writing credit etc.
They had like tens of thousands of songs in their catalogue across all the main genres just 'waiting' for an artist.
