I’ve been in excruciating pain in the lower quadrant going on three days now. Going in for CT scan in the AM. That’s what they think, is might be. I can hardly move. Feels like someone repeatedly side kicked me in the gut.
My wife has it for years, her complaint was gas and constipation. She was told it was not a severe case as seen during a colonoscopy. She was advised to put fiber supplement on her breakfast cereal and take a daily dose of Miralax.
My dad had it when he was in his 90s. Presented by suddenly leaking bright red blood. I don't remember exactly what they did in the hospital to stop the bleeding, just drugs, no surgery. Then told him to take Miralax daily.
Good luck, hope you get things sorted out quickly.

Prickly pear juice/extract can help prevent and alleviate symptoms. Avoid seeds and fruits with hard seeds like blackberries.
If it were me, I'd be reaching for Daily Turmeric from MegaFood (even if they are chinky, this is a *great* product. Good for pain relief, reduced inflammation and tissue repair) and Zyflamend from New Chapter, which is outstanding at helping the body deal with inflammation. Regular dose is 2. Don't be afraid to take 3-4.

Daily Turmeric is a compound formulation, primarily composed of Turmeric and Cherries, though it has a lot more than that (Black Pepper, Blueberries, Citrus bioflavinoids, etc.).
The combination of Turmeric and dark Cherries provides pain relief as well as naturally reducing inflammation. If you're already taking a Turmeric that you like, try adding a small serving of Cherry juice when you take it. It will help ease the pain.

I don't see why it wouldn't.
We often use it for joint pain and it's great for soft-tissue repair.
Zyflamend is great for joint pain too.
As odd as it sounds, another remedy that many people with crippling arthritis find relief with is Velvet Antler (yes, it is exactly what you think it is).
You can find it at some health food stores for around $40 and the best products are harvested from Red Stag in New Zealand.
This is truly an area where you get what you pay for. The best product I have used by far comes from an outfit called antlerfarms and runs about $150 per bottle.
Do not take fibre right now, don’t touch psyllium for a while. You can drink water. I have no experience with diverticulitis but I have had constipation and I have read a lot of research.
I lived this. I had horrible dull pain for a week, went in for a check. They did a white blood cell test and sent me to the ER. I had a section removed and a shit bag mounted. 6 months later they took it all down. I asked multiple doctors is there anything I could have done, or eaten throughout my whole life so this would be prevented? Every fucking one of them looked me in the eye and said no, it just happens sometimes. This is a lie. This is what they want you to believe. Diverticulitis is directly caused by diet. specifically GMO products. I ate a ton of bread, cereal, corn and it made my guts leak. This is fact. Clean up your diet, eat very clean. We were not meant to eat all the processed wheat and corn. Now, the main thing I eat is bison meat. I am no longer sick. mms protocols will cure you too. Research and heal yourself. Stay the fuck out of the death factories. They nearly killed me many times.
I love Dilaudid. I hope it won’t require surgery, I’ve only ever had one before.i popped back pretty quick though.
I go through Kaiser and they try to do as little as possible. However, just three months ago I went to a private surgery center and had an umbilical hernia fixed, my first surgery.
I didn’t want to screw around and jump through the hoops to get it done through insurance. Cash is king and you get to choose your surgeon.
You are old. You seem to have weak abdomen muscles. I recommend adding ab strengthening exercises to your routine after you have COMPLETELY recovered from your current predicament. Make sure to lift with extra care and/or with professional guidance because your abs are weak as fuck. Don’t over exert anyway, and don’t forget to rest. Lay off of psyllium for a long while. Avoid getting constipated. Eat easy to digest food for now. Have a lot of homemade chicken soup or beef broth with turmeric added. You can add ginger to your food or tea if you are okay with it. Honey and black pepper are also anti inflammatory. Homemade jello is good too.

As others have said, lots of water and fiber.
Hang in there, man. This too will pass.
