A distiller works just as well. When compared to the size of a water molecule, any micro plastic is going to much larger / heavier.

Sand Filters have always been good. Diatomaceous earth are better.

How do you filter the diatomaceous earth out of the water? I wouldn't want to drink DE just from my experience with it in powder form.

I thought DE was the media to filter the water. I would expect a second or third filtration with a food grade media to take place. Sand and DE would be the first or second stage.

Fun tap water fact:

Most reservoirs contain 2 tanks. They only test one tank for contamination at a time and don't test the other if they get a hit.
That way they don't have to switch off the water and don't knowingly pump tainted water

High TDS maybe. Zero TDS water tastes like nothing. But it is unnatural and not desirable or beneficial to to your health.

Most under sink filters won't quite get to 0 TDS, more like 10-20ppm. Some models have re-mineralizers so you don't have bodily diffusion problems.
