Sometimes they are also used to punish pre-crime. We supposed you were going to do X. It really lowers the standard of evidence because if a real crime were committed you would have to go over all the evidence of the actual crime.

The way they make some sense is when a crime actually does occur, the parties that knowingly helped facilitate it and plan it could be charged under conspiracy.

But the founding fathers intended our legal system to be reactionary. A crime has to occur for the law to get involved and a crime means someone was actually hurt. The legal system is meant to address when that does happen.
It's not meant to regulate us all into some kind of padded world where no one can ever get hurt, and all behavior that five miles down the road could lead to someone getting hurt must be stopped, or else.

Show me the victim, show me their wounds, or shut the fuck up.

There's definitely feds within Patriot Front. Any group of White men who get together on a regular basis for things like Bible study or target practice is going to have the feds with a telescope up their ass. There's no doubt that there are feds within PF, but PF is not a fed op.

A fed run op pushes its members to commit to illegal acts so they can arrest them and say that without fed intervention, there would have been a terrorist attack.

The leader of patriot front was in a leadership position in vanguard America even before he turned 18. So unless the fbi somehow hired him, recruited him, and trained him at the age of 14 or 15 specifically for this purpose than it is highly unlikely.

I'm not saying he's a fed, but I'm positive there's feds within PF. Maybe not straight up federal agents, but informants.

Guys who committed some minor offense that they trumped up the charges for and promised to make go away if they reported. Or the voluntary informant, the faggot that always imagined himself being a super secret double agent, and now has his chance.

Any group large enough is going to be infiltrated. The leaders have to take steps to mitigate potential damage by infiltrators though. For future protests, I would recommend PF compartmentalizes every detail. All information is need to know only. Lower ranks not given any information on the location of the protest until they get there.
