Is six figures not an upper middle class income anymore?

submitted by anon to AnonWhatever 2.9 yearsJun 12, 2022 11:50:04 ago (+21/-2)     (AnonWhatever)

I make about 140k per year. However the prospect of moving out of my small starter home seems pretty much impossible. Any house that isn't basic costs nearly 500k. And I don't even live in a blue shithole. This is in the south.

Buying foods that are somewhat healthy like produce and meats that aren't chock full of antibiotics and bullshit that will poison you is costing $3-400 a week for my family. Luckily I have a company truck so fuel isn't a major expense but energy is going up as well as just about anything else.

Still am able to put away savings but these past few months added expenses have been adding up like crazy. Really don't think there's any hope for the average American making 55k. If my income was cut in half don't think I'd be able to support a family at all let alone at that miniscule level.

Our lifestyles are slowly being taken from us...

This is where many of you will be surprised.

This is Summary of the Latest Federal Income Tax Data.

If you look at Table 1, you'll see that you are just shy of being in the Top 10% Income Earners in the US and pay an average tax rate of 19.9% which if you include the Top 5 and Top 1% of Income Earners in the US, you pay 70.8% OF ALL US INCOME TAX IN THIS NATION.

15 million people pay 70% of all income taxes in this nation. Those who make less than $44k DON'T PAY SHIT towards ANYTHING and should shut the fuck up until they do.

[ - ] anon 3923167 2 points 2.9 yearsJun 12, 2022 18:26:40 ago (+2/-0)

What? People that make less that $44k dont pay for the schools from property taxes? Roads from gas they purchase. Never mind the sales tax and every other tax they incur.

What you really mean is that top earners just pay for all the other shit that doesnt matter like foreign aid to israel.

[ - ] anon 2573353 3 points 2.9 yearsJun 12, 2022 19:06:59 ago (+3/-0)

That's exactly what I mean.

You sound like the typical idiot. "I payz fo' muh keedz yo! I gots a house and pyaz da taxes n' sheeit".

Don't misunderstand, those people are paying something but not nearly what they get in return. The federal government grants ~$12,000 per student to public schools. Your property taxes barely cover a tenth of that and NONE if you have more than one child.

The Federal tax on gasoline is .18 cents. So unless you have a fleet of vehicles traveling hundreds of miles per day, shut the fuck up.

If you make $44k per year, had no other expenses and spent the entire amount..........Louisiana has the highest rate in the nation at 9.55%......you'd be paying a maximum of $4,400. <<< that didn't happen. Pffft, whatever.

What you really mean is that top earners just pay for all the other shit that doesnt matter like foreign aid to israel.

What I mean is that those who make $154,000 a year or more pay at minimum a 20% federal income tax and are responsible for paying 70% of all income taxes in this nation that fund EVERYTHING even though they only number 15 million of the 330 million in this nation.

JUST WHAT THE TABLE SAYS. If you can't deal with it, shut the fuck up or demand that everyone pay their "FAIR SHARE".

not nearly what they get in return

What, genocided by an elite that rapes kids to control our government? Fuck out of here. Our jewish occupied government (jog) doesn't give us jack shit in return that we couldn't do better on our own.

I make 85k ish depending on overtime in a low cost of living area, and have had to start scrutinizing my checking account and shop at the cheap food stores for the first time in like five years. If not for the fact that my car and student loans are paid off, and my kid isn't in daycare anymore, I WOULD BE FUCKED. I can't even imagine how lower income, in debt households are doing. Shit is bad.

[ - ] anon 2431537 2 points 2.9 yearsJun 12, 2022 14:27:10 ago (+3/-1)

I pull in about 18k, and even in a very low COL area it's a bit rough. I've been smart about it though and own everything outright with no debts. I've even been able to stock up on some ammo and food/water, though it's mostly carbs and such.

I fix/make/maintain everything myself so I do save a good amount there. Food included, stay away from the pre-made shit and make your own it'll save ya cash.

[ - ] anon 5720873 2 points 2.9 yearsJun 12, 2022 15:01:35 ago (+2/-0)

Maintaining your own cars and equipment is so underrated. I've saved a fortune by fixing my own cars and doing my own home repairs.

[ - ] anon 3616404 3 points 2.9 yearsJun 12, 2022 15:02:21 ago (+4/-1)

Shit's fucked. I got my house 5 years ago at $363 and it's up to $607 now. Doesn't matter because I can do anything with it anyways since all the other properties around me have gone up even more. I'd have to move way outside of town for the money made on the sale to be worth anything.
Same boat for me with the kid, too. He's not as big of an expense as before, so that's good, but all the money I've saved is worth a lot less while goods double in price.
I guess Weimar citizens calling their money "Jewish confetti" is very accurate...colorful and worth nothing.

You know ARM's are limited in how much they can go up in a year, right? Last I had was a max of 1% a year and 3% in 5 years. And that's only if you're in adjustable period (most are locked at a fixed rate for a decade or so).

Everyone claimed there would be a flood of bank owned when the mortgage forbearance ended.... still waiting for that.

Yeah not really. I think the government lies about how much money people make. The government would tell you you make more than IDK 80% of people, which would be the definition of upper middle class to me. But clearly people are buying those houses you can't afford.

Regardless of why, you got it, shit costs so much there's no middle class any more.

I was surprised when I went to buy a house. The only reason I can afford (really get a mortgage for) a decent one is because my gf works. I thought I did pretty well, like you. Used to feel rich, if not wealthy, and I make more money than I did back when I felt that way.

[ - ] anon 3296748 [op] 0 points 2.9 yearsJun 12, 2022 18:56:38 ago (+0/-0)

Okay I could "afford it" with a 35 year debt load but having that hang over your head is insane. Would never buy a house that I could not pay off in 10-15 years

[ - ] anon 1238225 0 points 2.9 yearsJun 12, 2022 19:23:35 ago (+0/-0)

Yeah and if the average American made 50k, the average house wouldn't be 500k because they couldn't get loans for it. I do think that people buy more house than they can afford, but the numbers still don't work out.

I pull in around 200k.. am I winning yet?

in all truth I grew up poor so its nice to not worry about being able to pay bills or feed the family. but beyond that it doesn't matter much to me.

once I retire, different story. I'll retire as a millionaire.

it is. anyone who says it's not is a lying black-piller. the real problem is the perception of "middle class" in most people's minds is actually "upper middle class," which is middle class with more money/training/etc.

How the hell can you afford a 500k house at 70k? I guess if you never ever consider paying it off that's great. Personally I would not buy a property unless I can pay it off within 10 years. You never know what is going to happen health wise. And no I own all of my vehicles. Psid off because again I hate debt..I mostly drive my work truck and don't pay for gas.

You sound like a debt lover who values fake assets. I would not buy something unless it is cash or can be soon paid off.

Any house that isn't basic costs nearly 500k. And I don't even live in a blue shithole. This is in the south.

Houses are too big nowadays, also builders are overstretched given the immigration population boom so they can charge what they like.

Self builds with cheap materials are possible but it depends where you live. Most cities have construction locked down tight.

Buying foods that are somewhat healthy like produce and meats that aren't chock full of antibiotics and bullshit that will poison you is costing $3-400 a week for my family.

How...? I don't have a family but I spend like €35-40 a week and there's room to cut back if I needed to. Food is easily my easiest bill to economise.

Still am able to put away savings but these past few months added expenses have been adding up like crazy. Really don't think there's any hope for the average American making 55k. If my income was cut in half don't think I'd be able to support a family at all let alone at that miniscule level.

I hope you have something in gold and crypto. I don't have much optimism for USD based pensions and investments.

Our lifestyles are slowly being taken from us...

Yep. We need to build new ones.

Honestly, that "class" thing isn't really a relevant metric anymore, if it ever was. Upper class used to mean strictly nobility. Middle class meant wealthy non-nobles, so well to-do professionals and businessmen. Lower class was everyone else. So by that metric they're the 1% (by the IRS definition), not plutocrats, just top earners.

"Working class" is a marxist term, implying that only manual labour counts as work. Ironically modern marxists want everything they do to count as work, especially their hobbies. At any rate it was a flawed analysis given that manual labourers don't act as a class as he predicted and aren't inclined towards revolution.

If I were to attempt an analysis of today's society I'd divide as follows:

- Productive class: Anyone who is a net earner rather than a consumer and their dependents.

- Kleptocrat class: Anyone who is wealthy and depends on government employment, contracts or intervention to sustain their position. This would include top level civil servants, politicians, government contractors and their top level employees and any organisation that depends on government regulation.

- Parasite class: Anyone who is relatively poor and dependent on government welfare or employment

I would argue this is a more accurate class analysis as those groups largely do act as classes, with strong in-group preference and lobbying for their own interests. Given the current state of affairs it's clear which two are winning and which two are losing.

I haven't mentioned jews or blacks since this is purely a class analysis, not a racial analysis, but it shouldn't be difficult for anyone here to work out where different racial groups tend to fit in and how their behaviour impacts the class structure.

Make your own decision but...

It can be way cheaper to buy land and build.

It's dumb as hell to buy at the top of the market. Next up is probably layoffs.

Think about what can hold value and is easy to trade (gold, silver?). Or maybe check historical property values to find an area with less ups and downs; then return when the prior is down.

Also insulate the fuck out of your house, windows are the greatest loss, a cheap layer of plastic creating an air pocket makes a huge difference. Close interior doors

[ - ] anon 3296748 [op] 0 points 2.9 yearsJun 12, 2022 12:06:41 ago (+0/-0)

It can be way cheaper to buy land and build.

That's ultimately going to be my decision. Buy some raw and and earth moving equipment and build my own steel framed dwelling. I have the skills to do so just not so much the time. It will be a years long project. Still it shouldn't have to come to that.
